Got an interesting email today from John Spreath at Blue Ribbon Construction. Well he got a call from HGTV and they would like to speak to his recent kitchen clients about participating on HGTV's Bang for Your Buck show. Apparently they found Blue Ribbon on the web, talk about a small world. Anyway, Mark & I were among the clients he invited to participate. So, over the weekend we'll discuss it and decide if we want to submit our application for the show. It might be interesting to see what a professional designer thinks of the room.
Quick update, we submitted the application, pictures of the before and after kitchen, so who knows, maybe we'll soon be on TV.

A Silver Award
After checking out Blue Ribbon's Blog (you really need to check this out yourself, http://blueribbonconstruction.blogspot.com/) I found out today, our kitchen was the winner of Silver Award - Best Kitchen $30 - $75. I knew we had an awesome kitchen (I mean, I'm working in the room every day) but for John to get the recognition means a lot to me.

Judging is complete....and the winner is?
So, this morning two judges arrived in our kitchen to critique and review our remodeled kitchen. They checked the plumbing, the cabinets (did you really need to open the messy ones) and everything in between. They seemed genuinely pleased and impressed. I kept hearing what a great job and how nice the kitchen was so I think we did well. We were given an award for our banquette. They give each house an award for the best feature.
Unfortunately, we won't know if we won anything until the banquet in May so keep your fingers crossed, I'd really love for John and Blue Ribbon to get that recognition (not to mention I'd love some bragging rights.)

Star Awards
Greetings all,
It's been a while since I've made any postings to the blog. With finishing the kitchen there hasn't been any new events to tell you about until now.
John of Blue Ribbon Construction contacted us to ask if he could enter our kitchen in the Star Awards. I was so pleased, I just had to brag a bit. After all, it's a recognition of all the hard work John and his team did to bring about the gorgeous kitchen we now have. So sometime later this month I'm going to have judges tramping through my kitchen and hopefully ooohhhing and aaahing all over.
So, do you think I should make bread or scones for them?

My Review
Wonderful addition to our kitchen
Scotswoman Raleigh, NC 2/19/2009
5 5
Pros: Easy to use, Attractive, Good air flow
Cons: Very Heavy, Hard to replace bulbs
Best Uses: Dining room, Family Room
We use this ceiling fan in the dining area of our kitchen. It provides a nice air flow to our kitchen without interfering with the vents. The beauty of the fan is a conversation starter, whenever our friends come over. The fan is very heavy so should be properly installed to avoid problems later.
